Frequently Asked Questions

Good question. The performance of the Extra is in a different class than virtually all other general aviation airplanes. You can't experience this type of flying in a "normal" Cessna, Cirrus, Columbia, Piper or Beechcraft. We go to great lengths to simulate the environment that you fly in and we don't try to teach you how to fly the Extra. The point is to develop muscle memory to allow you to Recognize the situation you find yourself in, Recover quickly and efficiently, so you can Survive a potentially lethal encounter. Time is everything and there is usually enough time if you do the right thing.

The key to applying the correct control response is experience. Normal training gives lip service to extreme attitudes and aerodynamics-- flying out of an upset is not a cerebral activity. You have to experience it to maintain your focus and execute a safe recovery. AMT training is designed to produce just that response. Mistakes happen and experience is the best teacher!
